🌍 About the London Marathon 2026
- Over 59,000 runners took part in this year’s race, making it one of the largest marathon events ever.
- Conditions were dry, sunny and warm, starting around 11°C and rising to ~17–19°C, ideal but slightly challenging later in the race.
- Light winds and bright skies created a fantastic atmosphere for both runners and supporters.
⚡ Historic Performances
This year’s marathon will be remembered as one of the greatest in history:
- 🇰🇪 Sabastian Sawe set a new world record (1:59:30) and became the first man to break the 2-hour barrier in an official race.
- 🇪🇹 Yomif Kejelcha also ran under 2 hours (1:59:41), marking the first time ever that two athletes achieved this in the same marathon.
