We enjoyed another excellent edition of the Cake Race 2025 (the second race in our Club Winter League), with a fantastic turnout of 41 athletes taking part. As always, the handicapped format delivered an exciting and competitive race, featuring a tight finish and plenty of in race rivalries throughout the field.
Brigid claimed the win with a strong and well-timed run, followed closely by Niki Lynch in second place and Luke Evans taking third, making it a thrilling podium battle.

Race 1 began with a perfectly level playing field, as all 31 runners earned the same points. Race 2, with 41 participants, quickly reshaped the standings and began to separate the field, revealing early trends and momentum shifts π.
π Big Movers After Race 2: Several athletes who competed in both races made strong jumps thanks to standout performances. Brigid Long surged to the top of the leaderboard, while Paddy Reilly and Margaret OβFriel also made decisive moves upward π. Paul Balfe, Geoffrey Alexandre, and Donal Iremonger strengthened their overall positions by backing up Race 1 participation with solid Race 2 results.
π Runners such as Pat Collins, Una Reilly, Antonio Lorente, and Simon Monds showed consistency by racing both events and steadily accumulating points πͺ. Early commitment is already proving valuable in the overall standings.
π Brigid Long: from a level starting position in Race 1 to 1st overall after Race 2 with a commanding lead (+26 places, 27th β 1st)

π Margaret OβFriel: moved decisively into the top 3 with a strong and consistent performance (+25 places, 28th β 3rd)
